Crowns for Dental Implants
Dental implants have been around for many years and have proven to be a highly successful and beautiful way to replace missing teeth. Dr. Bateson and her team are highly trained and experienced in providing the dental crown portion of an implant and/or the restoration of an existing dental implant crown.
What is a dental implant?
Dental implants have a “root” below the gum and a “tooth” above the gum. A dental implant is a specially designed tooth root, made of titanium, that can take the place of a missing natural root. Dental implants are often the best option for tooth replacement because they provide the support that your jawbone needs to stay healthy. When an adult tooth is lost, the jaw underneath the gum line slowly begins to deteriorate. Dental implants are a fantastic option because not only do they provide an aesthetically pleasing replacement for the missing tooth above the gum line, but they stop the deterioration of the jawbone and help it to remain healthy beneath the gum line.
Dr. Bateson will refer you to a highly reputable specialist to provide your surgically placed dental implant post or root below the gum line. This process will require several weeks.
What is a dental implant restoration or crown?
When the first part of the dental implant procedure is complete, an appointment with Dr. Bateson will be scheduled to place the dental crown onto the implant, or the portion of the tooth that is above the gum line. The crown is designed in the lab and will be made to fit your mouth for a natural bite and look. There are multiple shades of white available so the crown will blend with the color of your other teeth for a beautiful and healthy new smile.
